Margaret Hewitt, LEED AP

Margaret Hewitt is currently the Director of Planning, Design & Construction for the MetroHealth System. MetroHealth is one of the major healthcare systems in Northeast Ohio. At 183 years old, it is believed to be the oldest public health care system in the county. It is the best Level 3 Trauma Center and has the top-ranking burn unit. The system has embarked on a $1Billion program called Campus Transformation which includes the construction of a new hospital that will be completed in 2022.

Margaret has a degree in architecture from the University of Illinois and has been in the construction industry for thirty years. She is a LEED Accredited and Envision Sustainability Professional.

Ms. Hewitt has been involved in more than $8 Billion of construction over her career. As an Owner’s Representative she has constructed courthouses for the Illinois Supreme Court, convention space for The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, K-12 schools for Chicago Public Schools, Cincinnati Public Schools and Akron Public Schools, hospitals for University Hospitals of Cleveland.

She is also the CEO and Founder of The Construction Green Team. She started the company with a passion for improving the impact of construction on our environment. The Construction Green Team, she has achieved green certifications for medical facilities, schools, multi-family housing, wastewater treatment facilities, bridges, offices, and transportation facilities. She has experience with several green rating systems including LEED, INVEST, Envision, Enterprise Green Communities, Energy Star, and Green Globes. Her goal is to use construction to have a positive on impact Climate Change.
