What we do

Our work impacts the lives of people from small towns to big cities.

Western Reserve Land Conservancy is a nonprofit with a focus on land, people and community.

We’re a conservation organization that works with landowners, communities, government agencies, park systems and other nonprofit organizations to permanently protect natural areas and farmland. Our primary tool is the conservation easement, which allows property owners to permanently preserve their land without surrendering ownership. This protection remains with the land, even if it is sold. Once a property is permanently preserved with a conservation easement, it is our job to ensure it remains protected.

We’re also helping revitalize Ohio’s cities and neighborhoods through the work of our Thriving Communities Institute. We secure funding for the demolition, renovation and greening of vacant and abandoned properties, help create county land banks, conduct property surveys, plant trees and study housing and foreclosure trends.
