Sporting Circle

The Sporting Circle provides sportsmen and women of all levels the opportunity to experience the sporting side of conservation.

Western Reserve Land Conservancy is utilizing its land holdings and staff expertise to provide unique opportunities to sportsmen and women through exceptional hunting and fishing experiences and expanded opportunity events. Though a majority of the Land Conservancy’s conserved properties are owned by other entities, there are several significant blocks of fee-owned land that provide world-class hunting and fishing opportunities.

Exceptional Sporting Experiences

  • Steelhead Fishing: Fish the rivers of Steelhead Alley with renown area guides. Depending on water conditions, participants may fish a variety of Lake Erie tributaries between Cleveland and Pennsylvania. Stay tuned for our 2018 event announcement.
  • Perch Charter: Join other Sporting Circle members on a perch charter in Lake Erie. The charter captain will set us on course to drift fish and fill the cooler. Stay tuned for our 2018 event announcement.
  • Pheasant Hunt: Hunt the fields of the Land Conservancy’s Sugar Island Preserve in Ashtabula and Trumbull Counties. Guides and bird dogs will put you in the right place and clean your harvest. Stay tuned for our 2018 event announcement.
  • Waterfowl Hunt: Wade a mix of sustainably managed flooded timber and open wetlands. Guides provide calling and dogs to keep you hunting throughout the morning of Northeast Ohio’s Opening Day. Stay tuned for our 2018 event announcement.

Expanded Opportunity

Through concurrent partnerships with other non-profits in the sporting community, the Land Conservancy offers a variety of opportunities for one-off topical events and new experiences, including, but not limited to, the following events:

  • Youth Deer Hunt: Held at the Land Conservancy’s Sugar Island Preserve, youth are provided the opportunity to hunt whitetail deer during youth gun season while accompanied by Land Conservancy staff and an adult.
  • ‘Women in the Outdoors’ Turkey Hunt: The Land Conservancy partners with the National Wild Turkey Federation to scout, set-up and provide women new to hunting an opportunity to hunt turkey at our Sugar Island Preserve.
  • Veteran Event Availability: The Land Conservancy encourages and seeks out partners in an effort to make our fee owned lands available for other non-profit groups that focus on connecting veterans to hunting and fishing.
