The vision.

Cleveland’s total canopy is only 19%. A desirable urban tree canopy cover is about 40%.

Western Reserve Land Conservancy’s vision is to increase Cleveland’s tree canopy along with the social, economic, and environmental benefits it provides.

Learn more about the benefits of trees here.

We can’t do it alone.

75%-80% of the tree canopy exists on private property. Because of this, private property in Cleveland has the most potential to increase canopy cover. We need your help planting trees.

Are you eligible?

  • Trees must be planted within the City of Cleveland
  • Trees must be planted on private property in front, side or back yards (trees may not be planted in containers or in the sidewalk as street trees).
  • priority will be given to those living in neighborhoods identified as high need in the Cleveland Tree Plan

Available Trees

We will be offering a variety of trees ranging from small to large with native, deciduous, and evergreen species available. When choosing a tree, you should consider the space that you have in your yard for the roots and branches, as well as the amount of sunlight your space is exposed to.
