Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Western Reserve Land Conservancy has an immediate opening for an Office Manager/Bookkeeper.  This full-time position is located at the organization’s Conservation Center at 3850 Chagrin River Road, Moreland Hills, Ohio 44022. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.


Western Reserve Land Conservancy provides the people of Northeast Ohio with essential natural assets through land conservation and restoration. Headquartered in Moreland Hills, Ohio, we are the largest land conservancy in Ohio, employing over 40 people in offices throughout northern and eastern portions of the state. Our land protection team has now conserved more than 52,000 acres of natural area and working farms in 23 Ohio counties. Thriving Communities, our urban revitalization program, is nationally recognized for thought leadership on removing blight; creating land banks to find productive uses for vacant properties; and revitalizing communities through greening strategies. Our mission is funded through a combination of program revenue, government grants, and philanthropic gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations.

Position Summary

The Office Manager/Bookkeeper is a member of the shared services team and is responsible for office management, bookkeeping and preferably, help-desk management. The Shared Services Team is comprised of the Chief Finance/Information Officer, the Accounting Manager, the Human Resources Director, and the Office Manager/Bookkeeper. The Office Manager/Bookkeeper reports to the Accounting Manager.


Key Areas of Responsibility

Office Management

This position is responsible for managing/ordering office supplies, managing leases and scheduling support for office equipment, and managing contact lists and the phone system.


This position is responsible for all accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, and providing general accounting and other assistance to the Accounting Manager and CFO as needed. There is opportunity for training, growth and increased accounting responsibility over time.

Help Desk Coordination

This position is a member of the internal help-desk team that includes the CIO, GIS manager and third-party consultants and assists with communication and coordination between these three groups. There is opportunity for training, growth and increased responsibility over time.

Culture, Communication, and Continuous Improvement

Along with all staff members, the Office Manager/Bookkeeper is responsible for contributing to a positive organizational culture through strong communications, living the Land Conservancy values, and demonstrating a willingness to collaborate, learn and develop. The Office Manager/Bookkeeper is also responsible for performing in a manner that is professional, collaborative, timely, and of high quality. This person is expected to pursue continuous learning and self-improvement.


Required Education, Experience, Capabilities

This person must demonstrate strong organizational and detail management skills, an ability to work independently as well as within a group, and the ability to work in a multi-tasking environment. This person must be able to manage multiple deadlines and tasks, and be comfortable with technology and working with computers. Candidate must be proficient using the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficiency with QuickBooks, and an aptitude for technology will help set this candidate apart. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college is preferred.
