Gold Panning on the vermilion

GoldPanningFind your fortune in a setting that will bring you back to the old days

Did you know that gold has been found in the Vermilion River? Yes, the precious metal has been pulled from the stream. And, you can try your hand at panning for gold at this popular event hosted by the Land Conservancy's Firelands chapter. The search takes place at the Lorain County Metro Parks Vermilion River Reservation. The Land Conservancy provides experienced guides and we invite participants to come prepared with shoes you don't mind getting wet and a big bucket for your treasures! Kids in the Creek

A multi-generational family tradition: water, critters, and kids

Western Reserve Land Conservancy events - Kids in Creek 1Kids in the Creek, one of our most popular summer events, celebrates families, water, and nature. Kids of all ages (one - 101 years old) explore a quiet stretch of the Chagrin River and learn about the importance of cold water conservation. Families bring the generations together as they splash through the water, catch critters, and identify them. The Land Conservancy provides helpful and friendly naturalists as well nets, identifier books, and buckets. Come join the fun in July at West Geauga Commons in Chesterland. Yoga on the Preserve

Practice on the Preserve: a celebration of yoga and conservation

The Land Conservancy teams up with the Cleveland Yoga in a celebration of yoga and land conservation. This extremely popular event attracts yogis of all Western Reserve Land Conservancy - yoga1levels and even features a special yoga class just for kids. Participants enjoy a vinyasa yoga class taught by Cleveland Yoga's best teachers, along with inspiring live music, great food, and some of the best views in northern Ohio. The Land Conservancy provides naturalists who guide morning hikes for early risers. New to yoga? This is a great way to give it a try in a relaxed, beautiful, and fun setting. EVERGREEN EVERBLUE

Each September, Land Conservancy's friends and supporters gather to celebrate our mission to protect the scenic beauty, working lands, and natural resources of northern Ohio. EverGreen EverBlue is the Land Conservancy's biggest annual fundraiser and one of our region's most celebrated gatherings. Each year, the party is held at a new, speciallocation somewhere in the region we serve. Our very own Paddles for Preservation ensures the fundraising is fun, fast, and firmly connected to protecting land.

Fall Festival

Autumn in Ohio: what's not to celebrate?

Land Conservancy families fall into October each year with festivals throughout the region. There are always pumpkins for painting, hayrides for riding, and campfires for s'moring. In Medina, the ever-popular Hoot and Harvest Festival features a special program, with owl spotting and rehabilitated raptor led by the Medina Raptor Center. In Geauga County, families gather around a special farm-setting, enjoying horses, hay, and remarkable fall colors. For information on Fall Festival in Geauga, click here. Triple Tap

Something for everyone to "tap into" at Patterson Fruit Farm

Western Reserve Land Conservancy events - Triple Tap 2Western Reserve Land Conservancy Events-TripleTap3Triple Tap is one of the Land Conservancy's most beloved family events. Started in 1998 by the Tributaries, fondly called"The Tribs," a volunteer group of young friends and families of the Land Conservancy, Triple Tap is a celebration of spring and all that it brings. It is a pure and simple maple sugaring party, held at Patterson's Fruit Farm in Chesterland, featuring music, food, horse-drawn hayrides, maple candy making, and lots of fun.
